Dan Elliott has passed away

Fire Community,

I know many of you worked with Dan at one time or another, so I wanted to pass the below information on to you.

It is with a heavy heart that I bring you news of the passing of County Fire Photographer Dan Elliott. Dan battled several ailments throughout his life and recently won his battle with cancer but unfortunately his body had had enough and he went home to be with the Lord early this morning. He’s at peace now with his mother and father. Throughout it all, Dan always had a great disposition and smile on his face.

Dan shot photography for many newspapers and magazines throughout the County. In September 2006, Dan accepted a part time position with County Fire, volunteering many years prior to that. Dan previously served as a Citizen Patrol member and volunteer photographer for the Sheriff’s Department. But for Dan, there was no other like County Fire. His love, appreciation and dedication to County Fire was unwavering. He never stopped talking about “his brothers and sisters” and what a privilege it was to work so closely with a great group of people.

Dan’s artistic ability can be seen throughout County Fire. He truly had an eye for the camera. He worked tirelessly to capture all aspects of County Fire; from historical fires such as the Saw tooth, Old & Grand Prix, Slide & Grass Valley fires, to residential fires, traffic collisions, and Haz-Mat incidents to retirement parties and department celebrations.

Thoughts and cards can be sent to:

The Elliott Family
12949 Nellibell Dr.
Victorville, Ca. 92392

Services are being planned and will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Phelan. More information forthcoming.

Please keep the Elliott family in your prayers.

Tracey Martinez, Public Information Officer
San Bernardino County Fire Department

Condolences. Ab.
