Employee Survey on Temporary Employee Hiring Practices
If you are now or have ever been a temporary employee, or if you have information or insights on temporary hiring practices, please take the time to complete this survey.  The results will help us fight for a fair deal for temporary employees.  Click on "Take the Survey NOW!" in the box to the right, or copy http://iamsurvey.iamaw.org/checkbox/Survey.aspx?s=929d117483e244b6b983f06e331d6a8f into your web browser.

We know that there are some employees who have been re-hired season after season for years, even decades, under the "1039" temporary hiring authority.  Such employees are performing work of a permanent nature, and deserve permanent appointments - appointments with insurance and pension benefits.

We took this issue to Capitol Hill earlier this year.  The staffers and representatives with whom we met were interested, but said they needed data.  This survey is designed to collect the data they need to address this issue.  The information you provide will be critical in this effort.

Please complete the survey as soon as you can.  With the health care debate raging, we have a rare opportunity to push this issue onto an always-hectic Congressional agenda.  We have received inquiries already.  The survey will be open for a month, but the sooner we get your information, the sooner we can begin to respond.

Our union gives us the opportunity to voice our concerns - and to be heard.  Please take advantage of the opportunity.

If you have concerns to bring to our attention that are not addressed in the survey, or if you have any technical problems completing it, please contact us at nffe@fs.fed.us.

In solidarity,

Mark Davis
