It’s good to know that this situation is being dealt with. A very nice thought. However nothing you do or say holds water. Lip service is real cute. How does it feel that the good employees are leaving your program while you keep the bad ones? This must be a huge head ache huh? Also, the good ones that would be considered the glue are delaminating. Very disrespectful what has happened from the people whom are in charge. The energy and work that was put in. How dare you.

I’m pretty sure he/she is referring to FS, BLM and all other DOI Gov. about their now ever looming retention situation that is now circling all the Fed Fire Agencies again as more State and Local Gov. Fire Departments are hiring again. We (FS) will never have a retention issue until we have a recruitment issue….period. I’m more interested in when the CA State minimum wage goes up to 15.00 an hour what that is going to do to our temp through GS-5 workforce….. Can’t get mad at people for seeking a better life style…..

Your right, but the R5 managers stated at the Apprentice graduation that the agency does not have a retention problem. The number of losses never reach the level required by the WO, so they will never state the truth. The young folks need to do what’s best for themselves and their families.

Say “Good Job” to the folks that are leaving and left. The FS will never do anything about the retention issue. The regional foresters and fire directors, especially the R5 director are more concerned about their own retirement. Shawna showed that when she was on the BDF. She wasn’t an advocate for the troops. She was more interested in delegating her work and then taking credit for the work other folks were doing for her so she could complete her PHD and get promoted. Get Out before its to late.

28 yrs of service in and if i could tell the young folks anything it would be ” dont even get started in the Fed Agencies, go strait to Cal Fire because as much as i love fighting fire…It is not a hobby it is a job and one day when you have a family and ar ready to retire you will want the best pay and retirement package you can get.”
Cant afford to keep my job !
