I thought for sure my FF would go to Utah, they were on a fire on the Mojave National Preserve, only an hour or two away, but they came home, but not before catching a few extra hours on an 800 acre blaze, not too far from our house, on their way home. He had one day off, and he was off to Alaska, I got see him for a couple of extra days though, they had trouble finding a flight because of the 4th of July holiday travel. He’ll be gone for 21 days I’m sure, but I don’t mind because I’ll be in Colorado!! I’m actually leaving a week early since he’s not going to be here, I’m happy to have the extra time there.

Taz- I hear ya, its rough being the better half in a new place. I was in the same boat last year. I had just moved here at the end of April, after being separated from him for two months in Colorado, then we only had a few weeks together before he started going out. I was SO lonely, it was hard too being pregnant because I was so emotional. Its much better now, I don’t really have any friends here, but the baby and my dogs keep pretty good company. I’m so busy most of the time, I don’t notice that he’s not around until I crawl into my empty bed at night. Where did you end up moving to anyways? Maybe we can get together.

Robbie- your sister will never stop missing the smell of smoke. Sometimes I find something around the house that smells like fire, and I always go back for a second wiff. I know, it’s a little weird, but I have a saying about FF, once you’re out of the blue and into the black, you can never go back. Actually, I stole it from the great Neil Young, but he doesn’t have to know about it.

Hi Rebecca!! Welcome aboard. I used to be a FF, so I don’t worry too much about my hubby, but I would imagine that other people who don’t know so much about it probably worry a lot. You’ll get used to not having him around by the end of the season, and don’t worry too much if you don’t get that phone call, sometimes they have to work a long shift, or go some where with no cell coverage, I used to expect my morning call too.

I’ll be leaving tomorrow, I won’t be home for 4 or 5 weeks, my Dad does not have internet at his house, but I’ll probably check in from time to time, most of my friends have internet I can use. Have a great 4th everyone!!!!
