Hey there, I’m a fire wife, although I used to be a FF myself until I got pregnant in January. My husband spends a lot of time on They Said and introduced it to me, but I never even noticed there was a place for families, we use a link directly to They Said on our favorites list.

We both worked for USFS in Fort Collins, CO, which is how we met. I grew up there and will always think of it as home, but my husband grew up in East LA and has been eager to come back to his home. He worked in fire out here for many years and asked for a transfer to the Texas Canyon Hotshots in SoCal. We now have a home in Lancaster, it’s cheaper in the desert because no one else wants to live here.

Anyways, I don’t work, I guess its fire or nothing for me, there’s a kind of passion for it that only a FF can understand, I’m sure some you have noticed this insanity among your own loved ones. My hubby hasn’t been gone too much so far, but the season is really starting to pick up here, so I’m sure I won’t be seeing him so much from now on. He was on the Pines fire last week and went to the Foothill fire today. We’ve only been here for a few months, and I don’t know anyone here, except for my mother-in-law, but she doesn’t count. I spend most of my time within the confines of my home where I can enjoy my air conditioner, I am at 8 months right now and can’t tolerate this heat, and with my puppy Trigger. So I’d love to hear from anyone that will not chew up my dirty socks, especially in SoCal J

Oh yeah, hey FSWYF, we should chat some time, let me know when.
