It’s great to have family talking … My boyfriend actually hasn’t even been on a fire yet, he’s going crazy! It’s been raining a ton here, and instead of being on his shot crew (who have already been dispatched to the southwest and been extended) this year he’s on a helicopter detail, so he had to wait until the helicopter came on contract.

We live about 2 hours apart during the summertime, but I was able to make the trip up last weekend while we could both swing a weekend off, and we had a great time hiking around and camping, although it was rainy…we were glad for the rain though, if it hadn’t have been raining both of us would have had to work. Now it’s hot, dry, windy and sunny – and it’s drying out fast. His ship came on contract yesterday, and by 10:30 they had an order to the rocky mountain area, and I thought that would be it … but I was really lucky and they ended up having to stay overnight in my hometown, so we were able to spend about 12 hours together – most of which was sleeping, but oh well. I was glad to have a little extra time, I doubt we’ll be seeing much of each other at all the way this summer is shaping up to be.

Settling in for the long season now — hope everyone is doing good, both at home and on the line.
