| Welcome to the Wildlandfire.com Hotlist Forum
Please read the following forum information carefully before posting or replying to any forum.
The Hotlist Forums consist of the following main forums.
Fire Forums by Areas: This area consists of ten geographic areas covering the United States. Each geographic area has a main forum for reporting initial attack and two sub-forums, one for continuing fires and one for general discussion. The top level forums begin with IA-, followed by the name of the geographic area. This is where new initial attack threads should be started. It's very important that new members read the first "Sticky" message, available at the top of each IA forum entitled, "Urgent!!! Read This Message Before Posting Here!" for information on what and how to post.
IA Sub-Forums
(Area Name)-Contining Fires/Incidents: The first sub-forum of each area is titled with the area name followed by Continuing Fires/Incidents. As a rule of thumb, uncontrolled fires will be moved from the IA forums into these forums after 24 hours. Please use the following guidelines before posting in these areas.
- DO NOT ask questions, post rumors or unverified events -- or scanner traffic messages -- containing references to fire shelter deployments, burnovers, aircraft down, vehicle rollovers, other accidents, or ordering a medivac helicopter or ambulance.
- Before starting a new thread insure the incident doesn't already exist.
- Use State and NWCG Unit Identifiers (available HERE) in the initial Thread Title Box, followed by the fire name if
known, or geographic area. Example: CA-LPF-DAY or CA-NEU-Alta
Hill Area.
(Area Name)-Questions & Discussion: The second sub-forum is titled with the area name followed by Questions and Discussions. These forums are for members to request more information on posted or unposted incidents and discuss other area specific topics.
- Questions are welcomed here. This is the forum to ask questions about
current Initial Attack threads including requests to clarify where, how big,
any update, resource requests, etc.
Alternatively, you may have heard something on the scanner but not have complete
information. Give the best information on location that you have when you ask
your question. We discourage speculation, but often individuals have good partial
information, but not enough to post to IA. Several examples include knowledge
of a a strike team being dispatched to a location (Why?) or lots of air
ops communication on the scanner (What's going on?). If you ask the question,
someone else may know or be able to obtain the answer.
- Before starting a new thread, insure the incident doesn't already exist.
- In the initial Thread Title Box, use State and, if possible, NWCG Unit Identifiers
(available HERE), followed by the fire name, if known, or geographic area.
Example: CA-LPF-DAY or CA-NEU-Alta Hill Area.
- DO NOT post rumors or unverified events -- or scanner traffic messages --
containing references to fire shelter deployments, burnovers, aircraft down, vehicle rollovers,
other accidents, or ordering a medivac helicopter or ambulance.
International Fire News: This area is for posting wildfire related information occuring outside the United States.
General Discussion: for general fire related discussions, information,
and questions that are of interest or affect all geographic areas.
Family Said: A forum for firefighter's family (and friends) to meet and share information. Only registered members can view this forum.
