General Forum Use

DO NOT post rumors or unverified events -- or scanner traffic messages -- containing references to fire shelter deployments, burnovers, aircraft down, vehicle rollovers, other accidents, or ordering a medivac helicopter or ambulance. Ideally we prefer an official fire press release or a media article that refers to a press release. We do NOT want firefighter family members to read about their loved one here first; they should be notified as compassionately as possible by the poper authorities. If you are aware of a significant event and aren't sure what to do, you email abercrombie@wildlandfire.com for suggestions. We may be able to find out more behind the scenes. We will reply as soon as possible. Wildlandfire.com reserves the right to edit, move, or delete threads or messages at any time.

Abuse

Obscene language, cursing or swearing will not be tolerated. Abusive comments directed at others, agencies, or other organizations is unacceptable.   Depending on the seriousness of the abuse, offenders may be warned by an Administrator or Moderator, lose their posting privileges, be banned from the forum, have their email account holder notified, and/or have their Internet Service Provider or Information System Manager contacted regarding the abuse.

Copy and pasting any information that is copyrighted and not written by you is plagiarism and it is illegal. If you are posting information found on another website or in other media, please include a link or reference(*). Copyrighted information is protected by law and it is only fair to credit the site and/or the authors of the information. Posts by members failing to follow this policy will be removed and the member will receive a warning. Continued failure to abide by this policy will result in posting privileges being suspended.

Registered members have the option of reporting abusive messages and posters to Administrators by clicking on the icon at the top right of each message window. Guests can report the same by using the Contact Us link at the bottom right of each page.

Since 1997, Wildlandfire.com has strictly guarded any and all personal information submitted to our website.  The Hotlist Forum forum will continue to protect our viewers privacy, including ip addresses, nicknames, passwords, and email addresses, as outlined in the original policy on the Wildlandfire.com Privacy & Disclaimer page.
