R5: Employee named Fire Management Officer of the Year

Retired Shasta-Trinity National Forest employee Arlen Cravens was recently selected as 2013 National Forest Fire Management Officer of the Year, in recognition of life-time achievements. Cravens served as a Canadian and Redding Smoke Jumper, and ended his career as a Fire Staff Officer.

Mike Minton named acting Six Rivers forest supervisor

The Times-Standard

Six Rivers National Forest announced Friday that fire Chief Mike Minton will assume the role of acting forest supervisor for the next 120 days.

Minton joined the forest service in 2006, and was promoted to chief in 2011, according to a forest service press release.

Forest Supervisor Tyrone Kelley was recently selected to become the director of engineering for the Pacific Southwest region, the release said.
