Hi Everyone,

I’m doing a project on wildfire technologies and innovation for my undergrad thesis, and I’m looking for people to talk to who have experience on fires using or introducing new technologies.

I want to know how YOU use technology, how your company or agency encourages the use of new and innovative technologies (i-phone, GIS, drones, or other), and what your thoughts are on how to best integrate a new piece of technology into the field.

You can let me know in comments, or if you think you have a lot to say about the topic email me directly at karabelle44@gmail.com and we can set up a time to talk!

Thanks!

    Hi Kara,

I just read your post. I am from Italy and I am bringing a new technology to the US for fire fighting that you might want to know about. I’ll be in the US to present such system in March.

If you like to know more about it, we can have a Skype and I can describe what this is all about – maybe it could be useful for your thesis.

    Regards

    Enrico Cristaini

    Kara:
Glad to hear of your interest in learning about the acceptance/use of technologies in fire. I have been fire fighting since 1970, wildland as well as structural. In 1974 I did my thesis for my Bachelor of Science in Forestry (Fire Management) on the use of remotely piloted vehicles (drones) in fire detection and management. As you can see, it has taken a few decades to start working with what I had developed on paper with current technology at that time!!! Gives you an idea how quickly technology is incorporated into fire management.
