Reid Marks, USFS retired has passed away. Reid started in 1957 on the San Berdo, worked on the ANF on the Oak Grove HS, FPT and ADFMO, the Sierra as FMO on the Mariposa and Bass Lake Districts and was the first LE Special Agent covering the Sierra, Sequoia and Stanislaus.  Celebration of Life to be this Sat. Aug. 2 at the Mariposa Fairgounds, to potluck and swap stories.  The following is the Obit for the local paper.Reid Allen MarksReid Allen graced us with his presence, gave us life, guided us thru life with a zeal unmatched, he had “been there, done that” several times over, lived life on his terms.Reid served in many ways with several different careers, US Navy, a career firefighter with the US Forest Service, local business owner of Radio Shack, Mariposa Legal Support and SBT software support, Special Operations (Incident Support Services), traveling and spending 6 weeks in support of Hurricane Katrina and Rita at the age of 73.Reid led by example as a local volunteer to many causes, Triangle 4H, Mariposa SAR, Mariposa SO Reserve Sargent, MPUD Fire, protector of Nelder Grove, Mariposa Rotary.Known for his laugh, humor, willingness to dance and swap stories.Reid Allen MarksJan. 22, 1932 Maple Heights OhioJuly 27, 2014 Pegleg Patch, Bootjack CA.Survived by his wife of 59 plus years, Adele, his brother Keith of Pearblossom, daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Doyle Nason of Mariposa, his son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Tricia of Mariposa, grandchildren and their families, Kym, Jona, Job, Ross and Elizabeth, and 11 great grandchildren.A memorial date will be held Sat. Aug. 2, 2014 at 10am at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds Picnic area.  After an informal brief memorial, attendees are welcome to bring a potluck dish to share and swap some stories.

    Reid was a one-of-a-kind guy who loved life, his family, and loved his work as a firefighter and as a special agent. I am proud to have worked alongside him over many years. My condolences to Adele and all the family. Ed

    Reid was always pleasant to be around. A friend for over 50 years………
