Anybody else having trouble getting reimbursed for fire travel expenses? My travel was submitted to USFS over a month ago and all I can find out is they are having “trouble” with their new travel system. No reimbursement – just “Sorry – no idea when it will be fixed.”

It takes a week to two weeks getting in the forest service travel system. That would be your first questions for them. If you’re an AD there is an additional form that must be completed with a 6500 form. Once you’re in the system and once someone does the authorization then voucher, it takes about 48 to 73 hours for It to drop in your bank account. Its getting in the system that takes some effort.

On the upside, federal regulations require them to pay you interest if they take longer than 30 days to pay you. That is 30 days from your complete & proper travel voucher submission.

According to USFS-ASC (Albuquerque) the problem was that for the second time this season their “send” program failed June 26 – and they think was fixed July 6. Now they are starting to send “thousands” of backlogged reimbursements. Mine is supposed to be among the thousands. If others reading this are still waiting, let’s hope the “send” system holds up until the thousands are sent before it breaks down again!

Is there any update to the travel and pay issues for AD’s. Home unit has no clue. I was paid in a matter of days last year. So far it’s been 10 days since both my travel and pay have been input. Should I bee concerned?
