Seems like no one posts IA info there anymore, tonight there’s 20 going fires from lightning on the Six Rivers NF, more on Klamath, and not s peep… Maybe it’s the new format like This new They Said, kinda killed it off as a blog…
The format for the hotlist is just the same as it always was- nothing has changed there. I also get alerts for new IA threads, and there have been some this year so I’m not quite sure what you’re referring to…it is only June. There are a bunch of Q&D threads for the fires currently burning up North, but you’re right no IA threads have been started. It’s probably lack of local intel. I have friends in the area but I’ve had a hard time finding good radio feeds to listen in.
Maybe all the scanner dudes got girlfriends.
As a long time resident of this list I see it as this 1) fire season just started. 2) The north-east corner of the state and sometimes the Trinities and all the way to the coast have lost many of the old folks that posted that area’s info. (remember Mellie) The Modoc and Sisq’s have always been a black hole for fire info. So, my opinion only. Take it or leave it. Encourage others to post and keep this site interesting.
And some of did get real jobs….
I hear you. This is the first time I have looked at they said in numerous months ( and I used to check it a few times a day) since we are on the topic of lack of info…any word on fires in NV seems like they got a ton of lightning this week
I would say the format, I’ve went from using the site daily to once every couple months
The format kind of drives me crazy. Not the same with new owners.
I was ok with the jumbled postings on the ole TheySaid.
I agree, the old fomat was jumbled but user friendly. I am no I.T guru and not sure if it’s possible to bring the old format back, but if so I bet there would be lot’s more posts and conversation.
I went from montoring the site multiple times daily to only a couple of times a season, the format doesn’t work out for me – and as someone mentioned at a large briefing the other day – it doesn’t have the same appeal for a lot of people as the old format. Oh well. I’ll also agree that although jumbled (which is how wildland fire is anyway!), it worked and was amazingly user-friendly. Perhaps I’ll check back in here this coming winter.
